Foreign adoptions
For 22 years as a special needs foster parent,I've had children who have exhibited all kinds of bizarre behavior. I call it bizarre because many have not experienced the level of pain, need and abandonment that they have lived in their short lives. In many cases the intensity of their language and the expressions of their pain is extreme. Many of them never commit to the threatened behavior but rather, they use it as a means of describing how much it hurts to live inside their skin. I was totally unprepared for the threats, the name calling and the self injurious behaviors that represent the immense fear and discomfort that these kids offer at first. I was unprepared to be the target of all their inner feelings. I was called so many things and told to do so many things with myself that I had to research what they meant! Lol Reaching out to professionals led me down a path of better understanding and comfort as I raised these kids, including enough strength and empathy to be able to adopt five children along the way. It was so much easier by being a responsible parent..........learning all that I could from the most successful and caring professionals in our community

I read the article about the Russian 7 year old boy adopted by American parents who was put on a plane back to Russia after severe psychological problems surfaced. While I DO NOT condone abandoning the child like his adoptive parents did, I want to raise awareness about the lies both in the State foster care systems and the lies from foreign adoption agencies used to pawn off psychologically violent children to unsuspecting parents
