The Media on the Bomber

After reading the AP Article, I had to wonder what this story was really about.  Do these people who report on these things even check with experts to figure out what this guy was using fireworks for?  Although very poor and had a slight chance of working, he was using them to set off the bomb itself.  If he was using M88's and the bomb material itself was something more than the stuff he used, an M88 can be used like a blasting cap.  Just the fact that it took 2 people to write the story makes me wonder.   "NEW YORK — A man accused of trying to detonate a car bomb in Times Square was videotaped buying consumer-grade fireworks at a Pennsylvania store that a company official said were not nearly strong enough to make a powerful bomb. Bruce Zoldan, president of Ohio-based Phantom Fireworks, said Faisal Shahzad, 30, was captured on surveillance video buying fireworks from his company's Matamoras, Pa., showroom, within the last two months

Boycott Arizona-stan!

Anger over Ariz. immigration law drives US rallies "I want to thank the governor of Arizona because she's awakened a sleeping giant," said labor organizer John Delgado, who attended a rally in New York where authorities estimated 6,500 gathered. Police said 50,000 rallied in Los Angeles where singer Gloria Estefan kicked off a massive downtown march

RUSSELL PEARCE’S SENATE BILL 1070

Neo-Nazi J.T. Ready (left) and his erstwhile father figure State Senator Russell Pearce, author of a host of bigoted bills .       The Mesa Republican sent an e-mail to supporters in which he copied an article from a White separatist group and link to that group's Web site.  The article from the National Alliance's Web site was pasted on the bottom of an e-mail Pearce sent to supporters slamming The Arizona Republic for its articles about his comments on the radio last month about a 1950's federal deportation program called "Operation Wetback."  Titled "Who Rules America?"   The alien grip on our News and Entertainment Media must be broken, "the article critized the media for promoting multiculturalism and racial equality, for portraying "any racially conscious White person" as a bigot and for presenting the Jewish Holocaust as fact.  The Media presents a "single view" of the world- a world in which every voice proclaims the equality of the races, the inerrant nature of the Jewish "Holocaust" tale, the wickedness of attempting to halt the flood of non-white aliens pouring across our borders, the danger of permitting citizens to keep and bear arms, the moral equivalence of all sexual orientation, and the desirability of a "pluralistic", cosmopolitan society rather than a homogenous white one," the article says.  The other two co-authors of the Arizona bill are, Kris Kobach and John Tanton.  IMO, I don't think bigoted racists should be writing laws that pertain to anyone in the U.S., let alone Arizona!

Sexual Discrimination

Just saw the article on Walmart.  Funny how the arguments are all so similar... Is it going to affect your shopping  at Walmart?  I actually hardly ever go there, as Meijer's is closer to me.  My daughter's lawsuit on the same thing is still pending.  Dragging feet is another ploy, I'm sure

Winning careers turing to box office flops.

Sinking careers? I filed through their picks and looked at the movies that had bombed at the box office. The list of flops read like a Greek tragedy.

Senator Grassley questions GM loan "Payback"

I saw an ad on TV last night with the new head of GM touting the companies 5 year early payback of the TARP loan. I did not hear him mention where he got the money.  Grassley questions whether the money was actuall earning by GM, which seems hard to believe, or a simple shuffling of TARP funds from one account to another. He also suggests this was done now as a means to keep governmnet ownned GM from having to pay a TARP excise tax.  Interestin stuff.

Gengrich, "the teaparty will become the militant arm of the GOP"

http://rawstory.com/rs/2010/0423/gingrich-tea-party-militant-wing-gop/ How do tea partiers feel about this?  How about republicans? What I found most important (and insane) is at the end of the article Rush Limbaugh states, ""I'm going to state right now, if there is a future incident such as Oklahoma City the blame is squarely on the shoulders of Bill Clinton and Barack Obama," Limbaugh said. Wouldnt the blame be on the person who did it?  Or his co conspirators?  Or perhaps violent video games or rap music?  Who would really be to blame?  I would say those that egged these anti govt types on with their violent rhetoric.

Both National Party Committees Spending Lavishly

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2010/04/21/politics/washingtonpost/main6417585.shtml   Although this is a CBS report which can be easily said to be left leaning and it appears so in this article by virtue that it mostly deals with the RNC and there is not that great of spread between either party in spending......

Is Franklin Graham Right About Islam?

The Military Religious Freedom Foundation doesn't want Franklin Graham to speak at the National Day of Prayer at the Pentagon because he called Islam a "very evil and wicked religion" after 9/11.  Do you think Franklin Graham was wrong to say this?  If so, you probably believe that the majority of Muslims are actually innocent, peace-loving people, and that Muslim terrorists are simply the extremists of their faith.  But it's important to take a look at what Dr. Tawfik Hamid - a former member of the Islamic terrorist group Jamaha Islameia - has to say. He recently spoke in Colorado and said that, while active terrorists are a very small minority in the Muslim world, those who support terrorist acts constitute the vast majority of the current Muslim population (especially Arab Muslims), and these are the people Westerners call 'moderates' since they do not commit terrorist acts
