When I was 1 years old, my father signed away all rights to me. I lived the first few years of life with my grandmother. I grew up with multiple step dads and one who abused me. My mother was never actually a “mother” figure. I actually became a mother figure to my brothers, as she was always out drinking, partying, or a crazy addiction with the internet. Loving children became second nature because of raising my brothers. I ended up leaving her home at the age of 15 because of the abuse. Now that I’m 19 and on my own, I am terribly lost. I was never taught the basic stuff of life. I have problems with the simple things like how to get medical insurance, what is best, how do scholarships work, what does college consist of and how do I choose the best one, how do I get a car without the money to pay upfront, what is interest rate all about and what’s the best decision to make on those, is this something normal I’m going through with my body, how do I obtain credit, and so much more! I just wonder why there are big brother and sister foundations but not a mother/father foundation? I’m lost on so many things in life and I don’t know who to turn to.
