I am trying to apply for a mortgage loan to get a house. I just got out of the military and was deployed for 3 of the 4 years and sometimes I didn’t pay bills. How do I explain that. I have already started to pay bills off and fix my credit.

I am planning on paying down my mortgage early. Am I better off making an extra $ 500 principal payment or making an additional regular payment every other month? It seems that I pay more interest when I make extra payments, which helps on the taxes – but wondered what it would look like after a few years.

My homes value has dropped significantly with all the foreclosures in my area. Appraised at just 68,000! I owe 178,000! Would my mortgage company be more willing to help me stay in my home buy making my payments more affordable than to add one more forclosure to the LONG list in my area? To me…It would benefit them to help me stay in a home I have been living in for that last 13 years.

My mortgage company failed to pay my taxes for two years. Now I am paying for it! I was advised to check each year to see if they were paying it. How do you do that? Besides waiting for a letter saying there’s a tax lien on your house!

I only have enough money for a down payment but I still have to borrow a considerable amount. But according to the banks I dont make enough to buy a house. But I know once I get the house the tenents rent will pay my mortgage. Why isnt this enough for the banks? People are always looking for somewhere to live so I’ll always be able to pay my mortgage & even so I could pay the mortgage regardless of if I had tenants. I pay my rent right now. I ve ben paying it for years and was never late. So, how do I get $ to buy this house?

I don’t have anything to hide, I just don’t want a bunch of lenders pulling it and hurting my score. Also, is the Better Business Bureau a good way to evaluate smaller, local mortgage lenders?
I mean during the research phase. I know that the one I end up choosing will need to pull it to pre-qualify.

I’ve never missed not a single payment, but because of bad economy I cant can’t afford to pay it anymore….I just can’t.Unless my lender cut the payment in half.What happen if I stop paying? Shall I let my lender know first? How it will effect my credit?

Our home had two mortgages. It foreclosed a year ago, but the second mortgage is open. We believe that bankruptcy is the only way out of it but does anyone know any other way out of it? We don’t know any details of how much the first mortgage got for the home and why the second didn’t foreclose. By-the way, the home was in VA.
