or just in general what buildings are cheap to rent out for a party or at least rent a large room?

I asked for estimates from movers – online – and got too many responses. When I asked two companies to come to my house to see the contents, they argued.

My question is simple: I’m in NYS and will move south. How firm are the moving companies to estimates – 10% seems reasonable? It appears there’s nothing to connect them to anything, hence their seemingly slipshod way of doing business.
Wow, y’all have really rapid-fired answers. Thanks! 1) I will check out companies with BBB (always do). 2) I hung up on people who will not send anyone here to look. 3) Rather than going with major outfits, we’re attempting to give the local businesses a shot here. They have a lot more to lose if we’re unhappy with them (and their BBB is clean).

Will Allstate increase my car insurance rates when i get convicted of possession charges?

Hi–I have been reading all the posts and have already learned a lot. Some answers led to more questions for me and I would appreciate any help in clarifying.

I own a condo in MA and have owned the property for 2 1/2 yrs.
Does the title insurance company do its own survey or would they have used a site plan made for the association? What about the floor plan? This is in my first unit sold deed package and is not drawn correctly even though there is an architects acceptance saying it is.

The site plan does not show an easement I learned of that is owned by a local utility. Does this affect my title?

All of the condo docs are innacurate including sizes of units and percentages, and MA condo law requirements were not followed before and after my sale, is this a title issue? Is there some type of warranty on my deed which the Title company will pay me for?
I am so tired of all of this.If I had known about the issues ahead of time, I never would have paid for here.Thank you.

**just an FYI: OPP or Ontario Provincial Police are like state troopers, they patrol the Ontario Highways, and in the cases of small towns and villages, those as well**

i was driving up to Blue Mountain Ski Resort for a company function, the roads were really bad, however coming into collingwood, they cleared right up, and seeing as how it was midnight, the roads were empty, so i was going much faster than i was supposed to and as i took a bend, a cop (OPP as well) on the other side quickly turned his lights on, but turned them right off because there was a median between us for about 1km, so by the time he turned around i would have been gone. now coming into blue mountain, i pulled into the resort and was looking for the main lodge to check-in. (work had us all split between 4 hotels, but all required you to check in to the same one), so i drove around, and ended up behind an OPP officer slowly driving through the parking lot (keep in mind, it was a friday night, and there were tons of OPP officers parked in the middle of the skiiers village by the bars), so he went straight and i turned left, exiting the parking lot, and stopping at the lights. with my signal on, i turned left, and begun my attempt at round 2 of the parking lot, looking for the lodge to check-in, after turning back into the parking lot, about 100 meters in, a cop who was riding my tail turned his lights on. so i pulled over, and rolled my window down immediately. he slowly approached my vehicle (keep in mind my car has tinted back windows, limo tint on the back and 2 rear doors, and the front 2 have lighter tint…all within the specifications of the law) (keep in mind as well, this isnt a one sided story, im telling you exactly what happened. when cops are involved i dont “dick” around or give attitude), he asks me to roll my window up. he then shines his light in, signals for me to roll it down, and tells me they’re too dark. i informed him about the specifications and he said there are no such thing. he asked for my license and registration. he also stated “have you been drinking?….this is the second time youve passed this lodge” and i replied that i just got off work and drove straight here, and that i was looking for the main lodge and showed him a copy of the work email with instructions. he then told me that he pulled me over because i failed to signal when turning left. i could tell he was looking for excuses to pull me over so i stopped argueing. in the confusion of it all, i was means to find my insurance, my plate renewal reciept and form (that shows i am the owner) but accidentally left the ownership at the DMV. after telling him this, he told me to sit tight. 45 mins go by from the time he pulled me over to the time he came back, giving me a ticket for 110 dollars for “failure to surrender proper documentation”. he told me i was getting off lucky as the ticket for the tinted windows would have been ASTRONOMICAL….i looked it up, its anywhere from 75-200 (depending on the scale of cops discretion). this doesnt seem right. why am i being targeted because my car fits the look of a “troublemaker” when in reality i work for a medical company assisting customers with diabetes. any advice? should i fight the ticket? ps, i drive a 2003 black sebring with tinted windows (not exactly a racing car haha). also, don’t you have a set time afterwords to show documentation?

So, my offer was supposed today, and I’m just nervous, and cannot sleep.

Do you think I can afford this house?
It is $ 31,800. I will put down 20% ($ 6,360) and get a fifteen yr mortgage, at 4.25%. The payments will be $ 349 a month, including taxes, insurance). I have been pre-approved for this mortgage.

I make minimum $ 1,600 a month after taxes ( up to $ 1,900 w/ overtime).

I have about $ 5,500 in investments, and $ 29,000 saved up for the purchase of this house.

I will need to pay utilities, home related insurances, $ 10 a month for cell bill, and $ 150 car insurance, and pay for food and gas and stuff. Right now, including those bills and expenses, I spend around $ 350 a month. I am frugal. I have no debt, but pay for school out of pocket which is about $ 300 a month total.

Let’s say the house needs $ 5,000 immediate repairs, and another $ 2,000 in cosmetic. These are very generous estimates. Nothing obviously wrong besides a bit of ugliness, to my eye. Home inspection in 2 days, though.

Can I afford this home? Also, I am starting out. I don’t have furniture and don’t expect to buy a houseful at once.

Thank you for reading this, and for your advice!

Additional Details
Okay Mandabear that was kinda rude. The house is actually pretty nice. Not great, but has a lot of potential and really cute. It’s in a great part of a prestigious city. Home prices here are just insanely low. As you pointed out, so is my salary. That’s why I’m in school… I think I’m doing okay for a self-supporting twenty-two yr old female. Thanks for your input though : /

Question by TexasBound: I have a mortgage on one home, can I get a second mortgage to pay for another house?
I’m planning to relocate, but current owe a mortgage for $ 50k. I also have a bankruptcy on my record thats a couple of years old. I’d like to find new home in the state I choose to live in. Would I be means to get a second mortgage or refinance my current home in order to pay for a new one?

That depends on a few things.

How much equity do you have in your current home?

What is your credit score?
What is your debt load?

Yes you can get a 2nd mortgage on your current home to buy another, people do it all the time.

Your income must support maintaining your current home (you should be means to get a renter in there to offset the mortgage payment or some portion there of) and support your new mortgage.

You can get a loan with a BK. Many lenders require it to be discharged for 2 years, however, there are still a few lenders that will lend on a BK only being discharged 1 day.

In a nutshell, yes you can, if all your other ducks are in a row.

Good luck

My husband is currently stationed in Ft. Hood Texas but we are only here for the next 6 months. My vehicle is up for renewal registration and I would like to renew it in Arizona not Texas since i will be returning home in a few short months. Can I do this and have the tags mailed to me at my texas address? I do cary insurance in Arizona as well as Texas for my vehicle. I know I can do it online but worry about where they will send my tags (my old arizona address) or if i need emisions done…
I have double coverage because USAA requires it if the vehicle is registered in another state then I live… If I have my sister do it do you know what all she needs to move with her to the DMV?

Insurance companies are obviously closed today (Sunday). I’m doing estimates on a house I am interested in and could use some insurance pointers…

Assume a $ 220k valued home after renovations located in Lakeview (70124). How substantially does raising or not raising a house affect insurance rates? Should I buy a house and raise it?

Any info / pointers are much appreciated!
Thanks. I wasn’t looking for estimates per se. I was just looking for what other people are paying for similar homes. I can call insurance companies for estimates.

for insurance IF your house is already on fire, already under floodwater?

Do you expect an auto insurance company to accept your application for auto insurance AFTER you’ve been in an accident?

THIS is what is being demanded of health insurance companies.
